NORTH TUKVAR TEA ESTATE

LOCATION                        :-  North facing looking at Kanchenjunga in Darjeeling town with Sikkim state in the vicinity. 

YEAR OF ACQUISITION:-  1995

FEATURES                      :-  This ISO 9002 certified garden lies at an elevation of 1,500 ft to 2,800 ft MSL and falls under a rain shadow. The tea bushes are of Assam hybrid , China hybrid and Darjeeling Clonal part to meet the agro-climatic conditions of the area.  This garden has carved out a niche for itself by pioneering the manufacture of both types of green tea. This is the first of its kind of Darjeeling Green Tea which has received overwhelming response from overseas buyers. The garden is certified for ISO 9000 and HACCP / SQF 2000.

AREA UNDER TEA        :- 195.48 hectares [as per Tea Board] at present plucking area is 187 hectares

GROSS YIELD                 :- 500 to 600  kg / hectare

WELFARE ACTIVITIES :- There are 649 workers on the garden roll  who are provided with  housing, healthcare, education facilities.  Safe drinking water facility has been provided in labour lines.
