Features : The Estate Employs 541 Permanent workers. ln the harvesting season additional casual workers are employed. No children are employed on the garden. The estate provides free housing fuel and subsidized cereals to its workers as also protective clothing in the monsoon and winter months. " There is one estate hospital and a school along with a handcraft centre for workers and dependants. Executives along with their workers actively participate in religious and cultural functions. The estate is ISO 9002 certified.
Afforestation : For environmental ecology all fallow areas in the Jellalpore Estate have been brought under the cultivation of trees such as teak, kadam, shishom.
Area under cultivation of tea : 370.44 Hect.
Area under irrigation :160 Hect.
Gross yield : 2365 Kgs/Per Hect.
Awards and Achievements : Tea Board Trophy for the best quality Tea sold during the year 1978.

Welfare : We are proud to announce that we are having 109o/o pucca quarters for our Clerical & Medical staff. On the Lobour house this should be around 80o/o and we are at present constructing 10 to 15 pucca quarters annually. The rest of the quarters are not pucca. But we repair them thoroughly annually.
A full pledged hospital with two out garden Dispensaries are being maintained by quality ed professionals.
Labour Clubs in all the Divisions and a Staff Club and one Cultural Manch at Jellalpore S.R. Club are also provided with and maintained by the Company. ln addition we have been donating funds to the religious and educational institutions in the neighbourhood.
Sporting Activities The inter Division Soccer Tournament is held annually and this year we have introduce the 5a side Football. Besides this the Labour, Staff and managerial Staff jointly participated in the inter garden verities Sports Tournaments and it had won many laurels.
On 26th, January every year the garden celebrates the "REPUBLICAN DAY, considering it with annual sports meet with pomp & gaiety. During the year 1992-93 this garden was host to North Cachar Employees Sports Meet at Jellalpore Tea Estate. The prominent citizens along with top District Officials were also present
Special Features : During last few years we have been following an ambitious programme of Rejuvenation, Replanting, Replacement and setting up of large Nurseries, most modern & effective Cultivation practices to enable us to help enhance our Crop to more than one million Kgs. by end of the year 2015 Keeping an acute shortage of Labourers in mind, aided by we are modernizing our Factory with latest Machines available in the market to cope with the increase in yield. As a result we are maintaining a very high standard of quality produce.

There are two stories swirling around, as to how the name Jellalpore was coined.
[i] Once upon a time the whole of this land was submerged with water. And thatch used to go down the river to reach the near by and far off village. As a result of which the Name Jellalpore was given.
[ii] Back in 1857, during the Sepay Mutiny, the Badshah of Delhi Badshah Bahadur Shah and Lakshmi Bai and others, who had participated in the revolt, were defeated and a long commander known as Jalalshah had taken shelter on the banks of this submerged land. As a result of which the common people had given the name Jellalpore in honour of the late Jalalshah.
The Tea at this virgin sylvan land was planted in April, 1863 by Macneill & Barry Co. Ltd., since then there has been a continuing Planting practice. The Garden had celebrated it's centenary in 1963.
The property has taken over in 1969 by Jay Shree Tea & Industries Limited, [A blue chip Company of the B.K.Birla Group] from Macneill & Darry Co.
During the time of the take over the total area under the was 318.32 Hectare. As against present of 370.44 Hectare. Similarly the total crop was 3,29,077 kgs. As against 8,69,000 kgs. At present
The Garden is situated on the Foot-Hills of the North Cachar Hills, connected on the northern side with the state of Maghalaya, and on the south-west with the International Border of Bangladesh.
The River Baleswar flows through the Estate bifurcating it into two halves. Although the garden looks picturesque it has some hazards as well.
A. Yearly Rainfall of 150” [inches] causing Floods twice or thrice a year.
B. Rail storm lash the Plantations every year during March to May.
