LOCATION: Between Meghalaya on the North and Bangladesh on the south west. YEAR OF ACQUISITION: 1969 AREA UNDER TEA:366 hectares GROSS YIELD:2,057 kg/hectare. FEATURES: The estate employs 691 permanent workers. In the harvesting season additional casual workers are employed. No children are employed on the garden. The estate provides free housing fuel and subsidized cereals to its workers as also protective clothing in the monsoon and winter months. There is one estate hospital and a school along with a handicraft centre for workers and dependants. Executives along with their workers actively participate in religious and cultural functions. The estate is ISO 9002 certified. AFFORESTATION :For environmental ecology all fallow areas in the Jellalpore Estate have been brought under the cultivation of trees such as teak, kadam, shishom.
